Jaipur: The pink city

My Hopeless Gypsy Soul

After a terrifying and exhausting trip from Delhi we finally arrived in Jaipur. I immediately liked it so much better.Jaipur is often called the Pink City in reference to its distinctly colored buildings, which were originally painted this color to imitate the red sandstone architecture of Mughal cities. It is chaotic, beautiful, filthy and colorful all at once. Upon arriving in Jaipur we hopped into a tuk tuk and made our way to our guesthouse. I was shocked at the amount of cows, pigs and chickens which simply wandered the streets. I literally mean there were hoards of them everywhere. At one point a cow darted across the road and nearly caused our untimely death.
