Food Memories 2: Kolkata and its delights

lazywritingblog love for food is not satiated, neither are my food memories. Moving on from Bombay, we are going down my memory lane in Kolkata where I spent the primary years of my life, gorging on delicacies which can be found only in Kolkata…not anywhere else.

Kolkata is definitely the city of joy, and culture but it is also home to some delicious bites that cannot be found anywhere else but here. Even if they are, they will never have that same taste and flavor like they originally do.

1. Ilish Mach

Also known as hilsa, its one of the most popular Bengali side-dish, without which no Bengali meal is complete. It can be prepared any way one wants to have it ~  it can be smoked, fried, steamed, baked in young plantain leaves, prepared with mustard seed paste, curd as well as egg plant.
