Dzongu is located in the northern part of the north eastern state of Sikkim in India. It does not feature on the regular touristy circuit. My interest to visit Dzongu sparked when I chanced upon a website showing some picturess. More research got me in touch with a gentleman, Gyatso Lepcha, running a homestay in Dzongu, which at that time, three years back was the only home stay there. With increasing interest in this place, more homestays have come up in the last few years. More research led me to understand that a visit to Sikkim is incomplete without meeting the aboriginal inhabitants of Sikkim and experiencing their way of life. And, so we set out to meet the Lepchas, the aboriginal inhabitants of Sikkim.
